Ques. Is Florida State University better than the University of Central Florida?

● Top Answer By Karn Mehta on 11 Jan 21

Ans. Both the universities are well respected in different aspects. While UCF is significantly younger than Florida State University, it has great programs in Engineering, Business, Hospitality and Entertainment. On the other hand, FSU has excellent programs in Film Production, Screenwriting, Business, Teaching and Sciences. Here is a quick summary of both colleges: From this we can conclude: Graduates from both have somewhat similar average salaries  FSU has a significantly lower student population which means better interaction and facilities in classes. Admissions are more difficult at FSU than UCF Tuition Fees for both are not very different. UCF has a larger student body because of which more and more classes are being offered online. This may be helpful for some while others may find small class sizes in FSU preferable. Hence, it is safe to say that both colleges are good but FSU has an edge over UCF due to its graduation rate, placements, student-faculty ratio and reputation.Read more

" My Life at University of Central Florida for Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) "

The University of Central Florida for Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is one the most renowned university. I have always heard about it and always wanted to get admission there. I had worked so hard to get there. It was mandatory to hold a BSN means Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), so I pursued it and scored a 7 GPA. To get admission at the university I had submitted an official transcript (in a sealed envelope), and Curriculum Vitae (CV). I had written a 500 words essay describing my future career plans. I had also submitted Foreign Transaction Transcript Evaluation. I had submitted  International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for my English Proficiency Test eligibility.

Scholarship :

No, I did not have any scholarship as I did not find any such option for me on the official website.

" University Ho to Aisi!!!! "

I chose UCF because it's in Orlando and I am unlikely to bear cold region and Orlando has Indian like weather. Other than that, Orlando is a touristic place more than a million people come to Orlando every year and I believe it's a world of opportunities in Orlando for people who are doing Management, Health Science, BBA, Biology, Kinesiology, and Hospitality. UCF is the heart of Orlando and is the second largest university in the USA with more than 75,000+ students and basically I like networking so I think this university can give me that chance to interact with loads of people.

Scholarship :

No, I did not have any scholarship in my first year , since they do not provide it to any international student.

" The University of Central Florida - A place to learn with fun "

I passed my 12th from the science side with 72% (math + biology) but after 12th I thought that the architecture field will have a good scope. So after I made up my mind I researched and that's when I came to know about the University of Central Florida This is one of the best colleges for BDes around the globe. I applied to the college online and the application fee of the form was $30. I got my acceptance letter pretty fast and at that time I came to know about how dedicated they are for their work at UCF.

" My Review of UCF! "

Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.

Florida Bright Futures, UCF grant, Think 30 Scholarships helped me in financial part.

" Large Class Sizes, Beautiful Campus "

It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.

Scholarship :

I have used loans and it was not great. They offered me a subsidized loan but then changed the amount and did not tell me. So I last minute has to except a subsidized loan and still have to pay it off.

" My master's journey "

I completed a bachelor's degree(mathematics Hons) with a 3.93/4 GPA from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2015. After that, I wanted to get into higher studies because I wanted to secure an academic position in a university. I applied to a few other USA universities including (UCF) and got the admission, tuition scholarship and teaching assistant position from almost all of them. I have heard about those universities through some senior Sri Lankan students who were studying there. The first reason to choose UCF is that I love hot weather and hate snow, so Florida is my best choice. Then as an institution, UCF is the largest University in the USA with great facilities for international students. Communication is really efficient. As an international student, I had to send many emails back and forth and got replies very fast. Since I got quick replies it was easy to deal with the visa process in advance. Also compared to other USA institutions application fee is cheaper.

Scholarship :

Yes, I've got tuition scholarship+health insurance and the teaching assistantship. We have to submit a separate form for both scholarship and teaching assistantship with university application. Selecting process is highly competitive and it's based on our Bachelor's results and GRE, TOEFL results. Also, we have to submit a statement of purpose as well.

It is in the town that I grew up and was close to my parents. I also received a scholarship that would pay for my tuition. I also liked the campus, as it had been newly renovated and had a lot of features such as study areas, new computers and tutors that I was interested in.
